1st find out your:

Monthly Expenses
Rent $522 monthly
Food $900 monthly (Me, my Wife & 4 Kids)
Internet/Phone $84
Carfare or Gas monthly $233 (2 monthly metrocards for us)
2 Cell phones $80

$1,819.00 monthly

2nd double that amount... $3,638.

Divide that by 4... $909.50.

Divide that by 40... $22.73

$22.73 is the minimum amount you need to make per hour 

alone but half that ($11.36) if you have a partner!

So a couple making $12 per hour for 40 hours per week times

4 weeks times 2  = $3,840 monthly income!

Subtract your monthly expenses from your monthly income:

$3,840 - $1,819 = $2,021

Then put away the same amount of your expenses (taken from what's

left over)...

2,021 - 1,819 = $202

$202 monthly to do whatever with!!!

This is when it's time to think of some side hustles or add a new job to

the equation!!!

also these numbers will be a lot lower due to state or federal taxes...
